Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil was born on the 12th of July, 1988.] She is a Canadian actor and singer. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to take home Canadian Idol's third season, which aired in 2005. In her role as an actress, she is most well-known for her role as Two as Rebecca or Portia Lin in the Syfy science fiction show Dark Matter and as Officer Lucy Chen on the ABC police procedural drama The Rookie.Although she was highly praised by the judges, she was a victim of massive setbacks both in the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals since she was placed in the lowest three and the bottom two and bottom two, respectively. The judges urged viewers to vote for contestants like Melissa who had the best vocal abilities. From then on, O'Neil never fell back into the bottom three of the rankings after giving consistently excellent performances, with judge Zack Werner declaring that she was "a chance to win the whole contest". O'Neil together with Rex Goudie, reached the finals on September 7th the 7th of September, 2005. Werner, a judge famously announced that the headlines in the next day's newspapers will be "The King [Kalan Porter] has passed away. Long live the Queen." At the grand finale's final results presentation on September 14, 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to be crowned the third Canadian Idol, as well as the first female winner, as well as (at 17) the youngest contestant in the show's history.
